KNIFE CARE

Please Make Sure To Visit Our Warranty Page

WHAT IS RECOMMENDED TO TAKE CARE OF MY KNIFE?

Take care of your blade, and it will always take care of you. We recommend keeping your  knife sharp, clean, dry, and oiled to defend against wear, corrosion, and possible injuries

HOW DO I CLEAN MY KNIFE?

We  recommend cleaning your knife after every use. First, use a solution of mild soap & water, remove any dirt or debris. Do not soak your knife or use any harsh chemicals during the cleaning process. Next, dry the knife completely. Please use a  soft cloth and rub a moisture displacing oil on the blade, this will help prevent oxidation. Placing your knife in a dishwasher will void all warranty.

HOW DO I SHARPEN MY KNIFE?

For at home sharpening, we recommend a fixed angle sharpening kit to create a consistent grind on the entire length of the knife. If you have not done this before, we highly recommend practicing your techniques before sharpening your Tippy Custom knife. Any knife damage caused by home sharpening is not covered under our warranty. You can read more about our limited lifetime warranty on the warranty page. You may also send it to Tippy Customs, and we will sharpen your blade for a minimal charge. Please send an email or text before you send your blade our way.

WHAT ARE THE USES, RECOMMENDED & NON-RECOMMENDED, FOR MY KNIFE?

FIXED BLADES:

You will find great use out of your fixed blade in a number of places & circumstances. Especially, when hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, etc... Some practical uses are brush clearing, chopping food, skinning & deboning, & splitting firewood. It's never a good idea to use your knife trying to pry something open, doing so could compromise the integrity of the blade and cause your warranty to be invalid.

FOLDING BLADES:

As a portable utility tool, the list of uses for our folders are seemingly endless. However, we do not recommend any activities in which you throw, chop, or pound your knife to avoid compromising the handle or locking system.  Also, it is never a good idea to use your knife as a screwdriver, or try to pry something open. Doing these things could compromise the integrity of the blade.

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY KNIFE?

When not in use, oil your blade and store it in a cardboard sheath in a temperate environment with low humidity. For long-term storage, we recommend re-oiling your blade a couple of times a year to prevent oxidation.

WHAT IF MY KNIFE BREAKS?

In the event that your Tippy Customs knife breaks, please send us a detailed email immediately with pictures if possible. We will then instruct you on shipping. Upon inspection, if there are no signs of abuse as deemed by our warranty policy, we will do the necessary repairs. Please review our warranty information.
